OLQP has had an incredible time celebrating Catholic Schools Week as a united community. During the week of the 4-9 March 2018, the school celebrated and showcased what our school has to offer with a liturgy, a visit from Mr Rix, CEDP Head of Communication, open classrooms and special Canadian visitors.
Celebrations began with the whole school gathered in one place to enjoy a religious ceremony as one massive class.
Everyone from around the school was involved with the liturgy, which was led by Year 6 students with the assistance of Year 6 teacher, teacher, Mr Aggar.
The OLQP community had a great time with each other whilst celebrating their religious culture. Children in the crowd had an amazing time singing songs and responding to prayers.
Year 6 student Sophia Brown said, “The liturgy was really entertaining because we got to learn about the teachers that came to OLQP many years before us.”
All carers in the school community could come into their children’s classroom to see what they have learnt so far. Students were so excited to see that their family members were at their school and interested in their learning. Carers has the chance to visit between 9:30-10:30 am or 3:00-6:00 pm and those who did had an exquisite experience.
The Year 6 students had a wonderful time discussing multimodal texts with Mr Rix, the Head of the Communication Office CEDP. They collaborated and came up with many magnificent ways to promote the school. There were many great students’ contributions that Mr Rix was impressed with (particularly the intelligence of OLQP students). The Year 6 kids were fascinated with Mr Rix’s stories and answers to the many questions. We hope that Mr Rix will visit again soon.
Have you ever wanted to meet people from another country? Obviously everyone does! OLQP were lucky to have a Canadian Teacher Educator visit and look at the learning taking place in our classrooms. Our teachers were anxious about having other educators from the CEDP with very high rankings in their classrooms but were relieved when they were told their class was astounding. The students also had a good time discussing ideas with the intelligent visitors from CEDP.
Unfortunately Catholic Schools Week had to come at an end. Everyone that contributed in the Catholic Schools Week activities at OLQP had an amazing experience including the teachers.
“I thought Catholic Schools Week was fantastic especially when we used Google classroom as a component in our work,” Year 6 teacher Mr van der Walle said.
Everybody is really excited what Catholic Schools Week next year can offer.

We would like to sincerely thank our wonderful FIAT team for their generosity in creating and donating the beautiful Easter baskets that will be raffled off next week. During Lent, we are reminded to reflect on the needs of others, especially those who are less fortunate. Easter is a time of hope, renewal, and generosity, and these baskets are a lovely reminder of the spirit of giving that this season calls us to embrace. Your kindness and willingness to contribute reflect the true meaning of Lent—thinking of others, sharing what we have, and spreading joy within our community. #faithinactioncspd12 Mar 2026
