🎨 Our kindergarten artists have been diving into the bold, imaginative world of Pablo Picasso! 🖊️ ✨ Inspired by his unique style, our little creators explored shapes, lines, and colour to make their very own Picasso-inspired masterpieces. Using oil pastels and watercolours, each piece is a vibrant reflection of their individuality- no two are alike, and each one is full of heart and creativity! 💙 💛 🧑🎨 🧑🎨

Last week, Year 1 enjoyed a fun filled day at Sydney Zoo! Our Zookeepers took us on an adventure around the zoo where we were able to learn, ask questions and even touch some creatures. We had so much fun and can’t wait for you to see a small snapshot of our day!

Rain couldn’t dampen the spirit of our students at the Diocesan Cross Country held at Sydney Motorsport Park, Eastern Creek! They showed great determination on the track, supported one another, and had a fantastic time despite the wet weather. Our Mother's Day celebration at Our Lady Queen of Peace was a tribute to the incredible women who nurture and guide us — our mothers, grandmothers, aunties, carers, and all significant maternal figures. The morning began with classroom visits, where our guests were warmly welcomed into our learning spaces to celebrate the work and achievements of the children. Following this, our school community gathered on Area A for a special Mother’s Day Liturgy. The hymn Gentle Woman was a central part of our celebration, reminding us of Mary, the mother of Jesus, a woman of grace, patience, and deep compassion. Her example is reflected in the lives of the loving women we honour. A reading from Corinthians reminded us of the nature of true love—a love that is patient, kind, and enduring. On this day, we give thanks for all the women who embody this selfless love through their acts of care, sacrifice, and encouragement. A touching moment in the celebration was a slideshow titled You Were There, followed by a heartfelt performance by the children of the song Mum. As the children turned to face our special guests, they raised and swayed their handmade sunflowers in a symbolic gesture of love and appreciation. The celebration was a joyful, heartwarming and emotional celebration — a true sea of sunflowers, gratitude, and love.

On Thursday, Year 5 led the OLQP school community in a moving Resurrection Liturgy centred on hope in the Risen Lord. Students joyfully proclaimed the message of new life and renewal through a powerful Scripture role play, prayers, and a hymn of praise and thanksgiving. The Resurrection liturgy linked beautifully to the 2025 Jubilee Year of Hope, reminding us that in Christ’s Resurrection, we find strength, joy, and the promise of a brighter future.

OLQP Liturgy in Honour of Pope Francis Yesterday, the students and staff of Our Lady Queen of Peace School gathered in a reverent liturgy to honour and remember Pope Francis, following his passing on Easter Monday. With hearts full of gratitude, we gave thanks for his life of humble service, deep compassion, and steadfast commitment to the Gospel. Our community took time to reflect on his extraordinary legacy—a legacy based in mercy, justice, peace, and care for the poor. During the liturgy, we listened to the Beatitudes, a scripture passage Pope Francis often described as a guiding light for Christian living. Through prayer and song, we celebrated his unwavering dedication to building a more inclusive and loving Church and his role as a beacon of hope in an often troubled world. Rest in peace, Pope Francis. You have served the Lord with faith and love. Your example will continue to inspire generations to come.
