ASPIRING tennis star Marco Ciarrocchi was invited to a special meeting with the Mayor of Cumberland Council recently to receive his Youth Sports Person nominee certificate.
The Our Lady Queen of Peace, Greystanes Yr 4 student was given the special presentation by the Mayor Greg Cummings as a result of his sporting accomplishments, most notably in tennis.
School coordinator Kym Romanous said she nominated Marco for Cumberland Council’s Young Sports Person of the Year.
"The Mayor invited Marco and his parents to a special presentation in the Council Chambers,’’ Mrs Romanous said.
At the presentation Marco received his certificate as a nominee in the prestigious competition, a gift bag and was allowed to sit at the Council Chambers meeting table and in the Mayor's chair.
Marco trains at Paul’s Tennis Academy in Greystanes where Paul McNamara is his coach.
His mum Gianna Ciarrocchi said he started at the academy just before his fifth birthday and always tries his best.
