The whole school at the liturgy
Wouldn’t you love to be part of a cool, caring Catholic Schools Week with your dear children? Well OLQP invited parents to do just that!
During Catholic Schools Week (which began Monday 5th March) parents and the community were invited to celebrate Catholic Schools Week with a wonderful, reverent liturgy and chance to view open classrooms to see what their loved ones were learning.
Our liturgy was an amazing start to the day. On Monday the 5th of March all the teachers, students and a great amount of parents attended our liturgy where we all joined in and sang our school song with pride. We also had representatives from each grade talk about something they love about OLQP. We all prayed in reverence to God.
“Our liturgy was amazing and it was very nice that Ana from the parish could come down and bless the community”, said Mr Aggar a teacher from OLQP.
After the liturgy the school organised open classrooms from Kindergarten right through to Year 6. Parents and the community were able to come in to the classrooms and see what it is that the OLQP students are learning. In the Year 6 classroom there was an ‘online passport’ which showed parents some of the tasks that have been done in class earlier in the year. After students finished tasks they copied and pasted a stamp picture into their passports so teachers knew they had completed certain tasks.
For all the parents who worked that day there was also an open classroom after school (from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm) called COOL school, which is an acronym for Celebration Of Our Learning. The students did the same thing as they did at the earlier open classroom.
“It was the best Catholic Schools Week because I was able to join in and see what the students were learning” said a current parent from OLQP.
It was a great success because parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles were able to see what their loved ones were learning. This is all because we are a compassionate, caring Catholic school and we know that it is very important for family members to see what students are learning.
If you missed the liturgy and open classrooms you still have a chance to go next year because there is a Catholic Schools Week every year at OLQP.

All the parents and carers were happy to be part of this Catholic celebration and they loved that they could see what the students were learning at OLQP. Why don’t you come and see what it will be next year!
