Our Lady Queen of Peace, Greystanes were presented with a cheque for $40,000 from Tony Issa MP Member for Granville, recently to fund a multi-purpose sports court area for students.
The grant was awarded through the Community Building Partnership Program funded by the NSW Government after a successful application submitted by the Parents and Friends Committee last year.
Principal Michael Hopley said the funding will go a long way in improving the school environment and providing a much-needed play area. ‘The courts will not only benefit our students – they’ll also be available to students of St Pauls College, local sport teams and fitness company RAW 24 which caters for children and adults,’ said Michael. ‘Our heartfelt thanks to Mr Tony Issa MP and the Parents and Friends Committee for their generous support.’
‘We are now looking to re-surface other play areas to increase safety for students and offer lots of options for learning and play at Our Lady Queen of Peace,’ said Michael.
Work will begin on the new courts during the Easter break.

Year 4 History Excursion Our Year 4 students enjoyed a wonderful day of learning in the city during their recent History excursion. At The Big Dig in The Rocks, students stepped back in time as they explored an authentic archaeological dig site. They examined real artefacts, listened to fascinating stories about the people who once lived in the area, and even had the opportunity to dig for artefacts themselves while practising their historical investigation skills. Students also visited the Art Gallery of New South Wales, where they explored a range of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artworks. They learned about the different techniques and mediums used by artists and took part in several hands-on art activities inspired by what they observed. It was a fantastic day of discovery, creativity and learning, and our students gained a deeper understanding of Australia’s history and culture.

We are so proud of our students who participated in the Regional Knox da Vinci Decathlon hosted by Santa Sophia Catholic College last Thursday. This prestigious competition challenges students across ten disciplines and requires teams to apply higher-order thinking, collaboration and creativity under pressure. A huge congratulations to our Year 5 team for achieving 1st place in Art and Poetry and 3rd place in Mathematics! We couldn’t be more proud of how our Year 5 and 6 students represented our school.
