3KR/3DR Excursion to the Australian Museum
On Monday 3KR and 3DR went on their excursion to the Australian Museum. The bus left at 8:15 am we were all so excited. When we got there we had recess at Hyde Park. Finally it was time to head to the Australian Museum. First we put our bags in a trolley then a staff member called Rene told us the rules.
We split up into our groups, and walked to the first gallery, which was an animal gallery called Wild Planet. We saw lots of different animals like giraffes and insects. Next we saw the mineral gallery. It was all about different stones that came out of the Earth. We saw lots of other galleries filled with dinosaurs and Aboriginal culture.
Before lunch we went to a kids section where we met Rene again. She told us more about Aboriginals. Then we got to paint our own boomerangs (while the parents had coffee).
While we waited for the boomerangs to dry we ate lunch inside because it was raining. When the bus arrived we had to rush in so we didn’t get wet. It was a long drive home but we got to school on time.
We had a great time!!

As part of our Project Compassion Initiative, our FIAT leaders will be running an Easter Raffle for all OLQP students next week (wk 8). This initiative is to help raise funds for those who are less fortunate than us. Tickets will be on sale every morning from 8:25am-8:45am on Area A. Our school leaders will also be available in the Kindy Learning Street for our Kindy students to purchase tickets. Ticket prices are $2 per ticket or $10 for 6. Your support through Project Compassion will help transform lives by bringing clean water, education, healthcare and opportunities to communities facing poverty and injustice.

Year 6 students have been lucky enough to share in Miss Indira Fernandez’s fifty years of teaching experience during their clay sculpture experience. We thank Miss Fernandez for bringing her bright energy while volunteering by spending a lovely morning with half of year 6 and we look forward to her joining the other half of the grade next week! The annual Easter Egg-stravaganza is back! The Pemulwuy Community Group is back in 2026 with the annual Easter Hat parade and egg hunt. This is in combination with a market event running from 9am to 3pm - lots of food trucks on offer! Dirrabarri Reserve, Pemulwuy - Next to the Tennis Court. Year 4 History Excursion Our Year 4 students enjoyed a wonderful day of learning in the city during their recent History excursion. At The Big Dig in The Rocks, students stepped back in time as they explored an authentic archaeological dig site. They examined real artefacts, listened to fascinating stories about the people who once lived in the area, and even had the opportunity to dig for artefacts themselves while practising their historical investigation skills. Students also visited the Art Gallery of New South Wales, where they explored a range of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artworks. They learned about the different techniques and mediums used by artists and took part in several hands-on art activities inspired by what they observed. It was a fantastic day of discovery, creativity and learning, and our students gained a deeper understanding of Australia’s history and culture.
