3KR/3DR Excursion to the Australian Museum
On Monday 3KR and 3DR went on their excursion to the Australian Museum. The bus left at 8:15 am we were all so excited. When we got there we had recess at Hyde Park. Finally it was time to head to the Australian Museum. First we put our bags in a trolley then a staff member called Rene told us the rules.
We split up into our groups, and walked to the first gallery, which was an animal gallery called Wild Planet. We saw lots of different animals like giraffes and insects. Next we saw the mineral gallery. It was all about different stones that came out of the Earth. We saw lots of other galleries filled with dinosaurs and Aboriginal culture.
Before lunch we went to a kids section where we met Rene again. She told us more about Aboriginals. Then we got to paint our own boomerangs (while the parents had coffee).
While we waited for the boomerangs to dry we ate lunch inside because it was raining. When the bus arrived we had to rush in so we didn’t get wet. It was a long drive home but we got to school on time.
We had a great time!!

The OLQP Band took part in the Hills Band Performance yesterday, which was held at St John XXIII, Stanhope Gardens. The children should feel proud of their performance. They showed improved rhythm, technique and unity. The Band performed three songs: Ayre & Dance, High Hopes & Just Dance. They kept the audience entertained and engaged, and the Senior Choir were awarded a Silver award for their effort.

Huge congratulations and best of luck to Year 6 students Elyse, Olivia, and Zara, who are heading to Campbelltown this weekend (4th–6th July) for the Junior State Titles Netball competition! These girls have spent the months training twice a week and competing in carnivals to prepare for this big moment. They’ll be representing their team against the best from across NSW on the first weekend of the holidays. We are so proud of your hard work and dedication, girls! Play hard and have fun!

As part of our Winter Embrace initiative in support of the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal 2026, OLQP hosted a Vinnies School Sleepout. The Winter Sleepout gave the students the opportunity to deepen their understanding of homelessness and disadvantage by taking part in an overnight experience that raises awareness, empathy and solidarity with those doing it tough during the cold winter months. This was an overnight event which was held last Friday 19th June on OLQP school premises. During the evening, the students participated in a liturgy and a variety of meaningful activities that allowed them to deepen their understanding of the hardships faced by people experiencing homelessness in Australia during winter. Students also had the opportunity to work alongside students from St Paul's Catholic High School.

After School Code Camp allows kids to hone their coding skills and keep practicing through weekly sessions over the term. Each week students will choose the features they want to build, and advance their problem solving skills to build these features using code. They will take ownership over their projects and collaborate with their peers to make awesome apps!

We currently have a large amount of lost property, including jumpers, lunchboxes, drink bottles and other items that have not been labelled. A bucket containing these items has been placed at the front gate, outside the office. We would appreciate it if parents could please take a moment to look through the items and collect anything that may belong to their child. We kindly ask that all clothing, lunchboxes and drink bottles are clearly labelled to help ensure lost items can be returned to their owners. Please note that any unclaimed items will unfortunately need to be disposed of. Thank you for your support and cooperation.

Our school choir performed beautifully at the 10:30 am Mass on Sunday at OLQP as the parish celebrated the Feast of Corpus Christi. Congratulations and heartfelt thanks to Mrs Kuchta and Mrs Grella (former OLQP staff member) for their dedication and guidance. The choir’s angelic voices truly uplifted the congregation and added a special sense of reverence and joy to this sacred celebration. Well done to all the students and leaders involved. Our Little Disciples lunchtime group enjoyed making decade Rosary beads while learning about the special role of Mary in our faith. Teaching children to pray the Rosary helps them grow closer to Jesus through Mary’s loving guidance and encourages a lifelong connection to prayer. We are proud of our students for embracing this beautiful Catholic tradition and deepening their faith.
