Lara dances her heart away
This has been a big year for Lara Griffiths from 5B. The 10 year old dancer will travel to Spain this month to represent Australia in the 2018 Dance World Cup.  The Dance World Cup will host over 12,000 competitors from 47 countries, and this tiny dancer will be dancing alongside the world’s best.  Qualification for this event is a huge achievement for such a young dancer.  Lara is super excited by this opportunity and is looking forward to performing on the world stage and eating churros with some new friends.
Lara in Action
Lara recently competed in the Hollywood Bound Dance Championships held at sea on Royal Caribbean’s Explorer of the Seas. Lara took out the Junior age category and was awarded the prestigious title of "Junior Dancer of the Seas".  Lara was also awarded an overall third placing across all age categories, which included competitors aged up to 18 years of age.
Rep Jacket for Lara
Dancing is often not thought of as a sport, but the physicality and training it requires is as demanding as any other sport, including soccer. Lara has been working hard to prepare for this event with her teacher Lisa Holt at PAC Station Dance Studio in Seven Hills.

As part of our Winter Embrace initiative in support of the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal 2026, OLQP hosted a Vinnies School Sleepout. The Winter Sleepout gave the students the opportunity to deepen their understanding of homelessness and disadvantage by taking part in an overnight experience that raises awareness, empathy and solidarity with those doing it tough during the cold winter months. This was an overnight event which was held last Friday 19th June on OLQP school premises. During the evening, the students participated in a liturgy and a variety of meaningful activities that allowed them to deepen their understanding of the hardships faced by people experiencing homelessness in Australia during winter. Students also had the opportunity to work alongside students from St Paul's Catholic High School.
