This weekend was a big one for Lara Griffiths. The 10 year old student from 5B was crowned regional champion at the Hollywood Bound Dance Championships.
During the awards ceremony, Lara also received the wonderful news that she has won a trip and been selected to represent Australia once again at the Dance World Cup and World Dance Movement events in Europe next year. It won’t be easy as Lara moves up an age division in 2019, but she is still hoping to bring home another medal to accompany the Bronze that she earned at the Dance World Cup in Spain a couple of months ago.
Lara dances at PAC Station Dance Studio in Seven Hills and is the first dancer and ambassador to be selected on the Australian team for 2019.

Students joyfully proclaimed the message of new life and renewal through a powerful Scripture role play, prayers, and a hymn of praise and thanksgiving. OLQP Liturgy in Honour of Pope Francis Yesterday, the students and staff of Our Lady Queen of Peace School gathered in a reverent liturgy to honour and remember Pope Francis, following his passing on Easter Monday. With hearts full of gratitude, we gave thanks for his life of humble service, deep compassion, and steadfast commitment to the Gospel. Our community took time to reflect on his extraordinary legacy—a legacy based in mercy, justice, peace, and care for the poor. During the liturgy, we listened to the Beatitudes, a scripture passage Pope Francis often described as a guiding light for Christian living. Through prayer and song, we celebrated his unwavering dedication to building a more inclusive and loving Church and his role as a beacon of hope in an often troubled world. Rest in peace, Pope Francis. You have served the Lord with faith and love. Your example will continue to inspire generations to come.

This was a reflective and meaningful experience where the year 3 students walked through the story of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. The Garden of Gethsemane was a place of great importance to Jesus, referred to in all four Gospels as a place where Christ retreated into deep prayer and a time of agony before His arrest and crucifixion.

Commitment to Close the Gap clear for Western Sydney Catholic schools
Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese (CSPD) has released its first annual Closing the Gap report. This report outlines its contribution to improving socio-economic outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, particularly students and their families. CSPD Chief Executive Officer Jack de Groot said the report reflects the dedication of CSPD’s 6 500 staff in fostering reconciliation and equity through the organisation’s 80 outstanding school across Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains.
