Present Year 6 students pretending to be past students at OLQP who are now teachers at OLQP!

On Monday the 5th March Catholic Schools Week begun and the celebration was beautiful, unique and delightful. It was also fun to hear the wonderful reflections from some of our teachers who also went to OLQP as children.

The day started with a beautiful liturgy that was also very unique. All the students, parents and teachers that came were very humble during the liturgy. One student from each grade (Kindergarten to Year 6) came up and commented on how good the school was and how they felt about OLQP.

Once we got to Year 6, things took a different turn. Two boys acted as interviewers and four girls acting as past students from OLQP who are all now current teachers.

“It was fun when we had to guess which student was the past student at OLQP and now is a present teacher at OLQP,” Mrs Preston explained.

“I was really moved when Miss Gunter was crying, as I mentioned that she was my kindergarten teacher and it was very nice that I got to share my thoughts and feelings about this wonderful school,” Miss Cassar proudly stated.

“All the parents and students enjoyed the open classrooms, as they had a lot of fun together,” Ms Alcantara spoke with joy.

When the parents went into the classrooms they completed fun activities with their child. Everyone had big smiles on their dials!

The students had also shown their parents what they have done over the past six weeks of school.

“It was so nice to participate in fun activities with my child as I got to bond with my child, ” (Sasha’s father) Mr Louis stated.

Each parent and student had a blast! The Catholic Schools week celebration was awesome and everyone had a lot of fun.

Our Little Disciples lunchtime group enjoyed making decade Rosary beads while learning about the special role of Mary in our faith. Teaching children to pray the Rosary helps them grow closer to Jesus through Mary’s loving guidance and encourages a lifelong connection to prayer. We are proud of our students for embracing this beautiful Catholic tradition and deepening their faith.

Today we celebrate the Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary to her cousin Elizabeth. We all can have God in our lives if we open our hearts to the possibility, and families are an especially potent way to bring, keep, and reinforce God in our hearts. God may not be as literally present as the visitation between Mary and Elizabeth, but the essence of that reunion can still spark within us a joy and inspiration from our own families that matches Mary’s and Elizabeth’s Godly proclamations.
