On the 24th April, Year 2 were fortunate to have Ms Bonello come and speak to the children about ANZAC Day and the significance of this day.

Ms Bonello spoke about her Hunter's dad's experience in the Navy and showed the children some photos and medals. Thank you so much for this wonderful experience.

Hunter’s father is in the Navy and Hunter’s mum came before ANZAC day a 100 years after it happened. I learnt it happened in Gallipoli. I saw some of Todd’s things (Hunter’s dad) like his medals. We also got to see pictures of him and his family.

I learnt about the Navy. The most interesting thing I learnt about is that they have a big ship and there are lots of guns on the ship. Each thing they did, they got a medal. All the people worked very hard. Each time they go somewhere they wear a special hat. They have lots of uniforms and have sailed to lots of countries.

I learnt about the Navy. The most important thing I learnt about is they have a big ship and they get lots of medals. They have sailed to lots of countries like Japan and America. They also have lots of guns on the ship. The Navy protects us and keeps us safe.

Thanks to the incredible support of our school community, we raised an amazing $1,873! 🙌🎉 Every dollar goes back into supporting our students and creating more opportunities for them. A big thank you to all the families who ordered, and our volunteers who helped organise everything🐰💐

Yesterday, Taleishah from CSPD Jarara Cultural Centre visited OLQP to yarn with some of our students. The students explored the origins of their indigenous ancestral country and family. We look forward to learning more about the Aboriginal Australian perspective alongside our Indigenous families, who are eager to share their culture with our school community.
