This area aims to develop in students the knowledge; understanding; skills; attitudes and values, which will enhance their personal growth and enable them to participate effectively in maintaining or improving the quality of their society and their environment. 

The staff at Our Lady Queen of Peace believe the study of HSIE provides students with opportunities to:

• explore the culture of their own community and how they interact within it
• explore other cultures
• acquire the skills necessary to interact with developing maturity within their society and environment
