English

English is one of the seven Key Learning Areas in the school curriculum, K-6, and has a wider role as a means of learning in all curriculum areas.

Our approach to the teaching of English is based on the three main interrelated uses of language:

• to interact with others
• to create and interpret text
• to develop understandings about the world and ourselves

At Our Lady Queen of Peace we ensure that all areas of English, including reading; writing; spelling; talking; listening and handwriting, are covered at each year level. We aim to develop the competence and confidence of all students in learning and using English; thus enabling them to effectively participate in our society.
